Badlands is a magnet for exploiters, griefers, and dumb asses
So far I think I like the new Badlands Team Fortress 2 map. The routes are laid out to provide some interesting approaches and flanking opportunities, and the diverse terrain and vertical aspect is a lot of fun. From what I’ve seen, one of the biggest strengths is that no one class is able to dominate and you can play as almost anything and still useful in most areas. You just need to find the right tactics and think about how you are playing - it is a good thinking map, and good tactics and strats seem to make all the difference.
Which is why it’s so frustrating that I haven’t been able to have a decent game on it yet with all the idiots that have come out of the woodward with it’s release. It’s like all the kids played TF2 at the start, got bored, went back to Counter Strike, and now they’ve come back to TF2 again. GAH.
The worst thing seems to be the glaring underground-turret exploit. I think it took about 0.0246 seconds for the griefers to find that one after the map was released. I had really hoped Valve had learned their lesson with the problems in Gravelpit a while back and guarded against that kind of exploit a bit more.

Another minor annoyance were the Team Roomba wannabes from WAPS stacking up one team, then all rolling engineer and being useless. Then being a dick about it on voice comms. Amazing how tough these kids act when they are safely anonymous on the interweb AND they have their buddies to back up their anti-social BS. At least Roomba had some style and made it funny.
I think I might just lay low till things go back to normal again. (Or maybe I’ll just be forced to anyway)

They didn’t even need us, we won in like 10 mins + it doesnt count if its on a private server, thats almost as sad as renting a server and having only you on it and afk for 30 mins on each class till you got that for all of em as longest life

Theres nothing wrong with clan stacking, if u suck at the game and cant beat 4 people from the same clan then get better or find a different game. + 2 of us were getting 150 building so it was more like 2 on 1 team.

Never claimed to be a pro. It’s just to point out how much stats and achievements can tell about skill.
Because there’s no skill either in grinding 150 buildings while your team actually works and keeps all the other team at bay.

Not hard to fix this. Just pop the map into entedit and add a barrel in that corner. The proper entities can be found on the steam forums pretty easily.

Griefers need beating to death with sticks. People who defend griefers need beating to death with the same sticks. If your having fun so badly requires someone elses fun to be ruined, then you’re a borderline sociopath who needs to seek professional help as mentally well balanced individuals do not act in such a fashion.
I have voice off all the time in TF2. It adds virtually nothing, and most of the time seems to be a contest to see who can out-asshat everyone else.

Please note he had a SENTRY up that WAS defending the spawn base, this prevents scouts from spawn-jumping. I’ll also let you know that 2 people from the clan were on the other team while the others were ‘griefing’.
Too bad that your claims of griefing are meaningless anyway, as building sentries in non exploit positions in the map is not griefing.
I agree that griefing is bad, but the only type I can see in Badlands is building sentries underground in the middle area, which was never done by the players in question.
Madlep, please harden up, or change servers. Theres quite a few of them.

The sentry was useless, as the action was taking place across the map. Don’t try and say they were helping out. There is more chance of finding WMDs in Iraq than those turrets ever hitting anything until it’s already too late.
Also, I was referring to the moron at the top of the post who was building the underground sentry as in the “exploiting” and “griefing” categories. You guys just fall under “dumb asses”. The discussion of what you guys were doing was a minor extra compared to that main one. You’ve all turned it into the central issue though. Maybe you need to harden up and learn to take a little criticism?

I’m pretty sure, and I hope you realize this too, that if you can be assed to post this topic in the first place, then you must be a sad, sad little man. TF2 is a game, a game for fun, it is like the schoolyard. Think of a schoolyard for me Madlep.
Think of you being the one kid that said ‘no’ to your friends passing you the marijuana cigarette, then you going off to the teachers to report your friends. Think of the drugs as fun. Essentially harmless. Think of the initial point of your topic (the underground sentry exploiter) as a person horribly addicted to drugs. He is a lost cause.
Instead of reporting, you should buy into it. As a concerned, now angered parent, you could have:
Joined in! Set up sentries and be an ass! Noone other than the real Madlep cares what you are doing!
Swap Teams, play heavy, grab a medic and kill the sentries, winning the game!
Leave the game, find another server, and find something else you can bitch about.
Just play as per normal. Although, obviously as you spend more time typing away furiously on your keyboard to hopefully scrounge up even ANY kind of respect from TF2 Community forums instead of just playing the game, you must simply just suck ass.
Go find a clan and experience the wonders of public server clan stacking. Its good fun, and only asshats like our friend Madlep here will ever care about you doing it.
By the way, what you are saying is in no way criticism. Its girly bitching.

I’ve been in clans in other games in years gone by. I’ve done the stacking and got bored of it because it ruins an otherwise good game. I’ve got a life now, so I don’t have time to play in a clan. An hour or two of pub servering a couple of times a week is what I’m happy with.
I’m just in this for the giggles laughing at people like you getting all hot and bothered. It is girly bitching, and I’m happy with that. But its only fun when you respond like you are.

Haha, you griefer guys need to stop crying and actually learn how to play instead of grinding achievement all day on a pub game. Go back to WoW if you want something you can grind that is easy to play. It might be at your level more.

Anyway, why are we being called ‘griefers’ now? What we were doing wasn’t griefing, it was more like ‘being useless’, but we weren’t exactly useless because we both had sentries up.
Why does it matter anyway? Our team was winning without us, and it would’ve been even more one sided if me and Bioman were actually playing.
I agree, there’s no skill involved in building teleporters/dispensers just outside respawn (obviously ._.).

Unfortunatly i’m replying to this (this event happened a long time ago). I’m a waps member. This wasn’t griefing, we were not trying to frustrate our team in any way.
